Night Wind Economics
The price of energy at the Amsterdam Power Exchange (APX) is very variable, in a range from 0,01 Euro/MWh to 900,00 Euro/MWh (2006).
Conventional "Night Charging" of Cold Stores uses the lower energy price at night to reduce energy costs.
The Night Wind Control System NWCS goes one step further, and decides for every hour of the day when to buy energy (charge the cold store) and when to discharge (stop the refrigeration machines).
NWCS will save 40% in energy costs compared to normal operation, and 15% compared to "Night Charging"
Compared to normal operation:
7000 euro/year (per 100 kWe)
Compared to "Night Charging":
2500 euro/year (per 100 kWe)
